About the Major
The undergraduate major is designed primarily for (1) students seeking a general education and desiring a special emphasis in this geographic area from the medieval to the modern period, (2) those who plan to live and work in the Middle East and North Africa whose careers can be aided by a knowledge of the peoples, languages, history, and institutions of the region, (3) those who seek background knowledge because they intend to work with people of Middle Eastern and North African heritage in the U.S., and (4) student preparing for academic study at the graduate level in the various disciplines pertaining to the Middle East and North Africa.
