Geophysics/Applied Geophysics B.S.

About the Major
Geophysics/Applied Geophysics is the science of the quantitative description of Earth. Students in this major develop strong backgrounds in physics and mathematics as well as a foundation in the earth sciences. The advanced portion of the program focuses on the application of physical principles and methods to the exploration of the Earth’s crust. In addition to lecture and laboratory courses, students travel to mountain and desert areas to perform seismic experiments (earthquake simulations!).
