Materials Engineering B.S.
Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Sciences

About the Major
Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Sciences

The ABET-accredited materials engineering program builds on the foundation of materials science and is concerned with the design, fabrication, and optimal selection of engineering materials that must simultaneously fulfill dimensional, property, quality control, and economic requirements. It is designed for students who desire a broad understanding of the relationship between microstructure and properties of materials. Metals, ceramics, and polymers, as well as the design, fabrication, and testing of metallic and other materials such as oxides, glasses, and fiber-reinforced composites, are included in the course contents.

There is an Electronic Materials option available for this major. Consult the General Catalog for more details.
